This workshop will introduce participants to a framework for developing open-ended problems, called Model-Eliciting Activities (MEA). These are highly open-ended problems require that student teams make new sense of their existing knowledge and understandings to formulate a generalizable mathematical model that a client can use to solve the given problem and similar problems. These problems can be the start of a Model Development Sequence in which students work with more advanced mathematical or science concepts or applications.
